The Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF) hosted an event dedicated to the summary of the previous season and the launch of the upcoming 2026/27 season.
On September 29, the Four Seasons Hotel served as the venue for the gathering. The event was attended by Chingiz Huseynzade, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee; Elnur Mammadov, Head of the Sports Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Emin Amrullayev, President of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation; alongside ABF Board members, official partners, federation staff, club executives, coaches, players, and media representatives.
The event commenced with the previous season's summary report presented by ABF Press Officer Sanan Aliyev. He provided a detailed overview of the federation's projects executed over the past season, achievements in international tournaments, and upcoming initiatives planned for the near future.
Following the presentation, NOC Vice-President Chingiz Huseynzade delivered opening remarks highlighting the growth trajectory of domestic basketball and key strategic developments, underscoring the growing international success of Azerbaijani basketball at both national team and club levels.
In his address, ABF President Emin Amrullayev outlined the federation's operational principles and emphasized the increasing competitiveness of the domestic league: "Grassroots growth and the sustainable development of clubs remain our core priorities. Building a foundation for consistent, long-term success as a basketball federation requires a double-digit timeframe. We clearly recognize where quick wins are achievable—with 3x3 women's basketball standing as a prime example. Furthermore, with 4 ABL clubs competing in European competitions this season, this 8-team championship is set to be even more competitive than in previous years." At the conclusion of the event, ABF President Emin Amrullayev presented special recognition awards to official federation partners. Additionally, floor officials were awarded for their fair and professional officiating throughout the season, while table officials were recognized for their precise record-keeping and scorekeeping. The event concluded with a media briefing, where the federation president addressed questions from journalists and expressed confidence that the upcoming season will deliver an even more compelling experience for the basketball community.
