A meeting was held between the officials of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation FIBA Champions League
On January 7, a meeting was held between the President of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF), Emin Amrullayev, other federation officials, and representatives of the FIBA Basketball Champions League, one of the continent's most significant club tournaments. During the meeting, the federation president spoke about the increasing quality of the Azerbaijan Basketball League (ABL) year by year, the initiatives implemented for the development of basketball in the country, and the new projects being prepared. In the meeting, which was conducted in the spirit of mutual exchange of views, the federation president expressed gratitude to FIBA officials for their support in activities related to the national teams, including various age categories. For their part, the representatives of the FIBA Basketball Champions League praised the measures taken to develop basketball in Azerbaijan and the rising trajectory of club basketball, particularly led by the "Sabah" club. They also expressed confidence that the ABF would continue its activities in this direction at a high level in the coming years

Matches of the 13th round of the Azerbaijan Basketball League (ABL) were played on January 16–18. The following results were recorded in the games held in Groups “A” and “B”.
Group A

The Round of 16 stage of the Azerbaijan Basketball Cup (2026) took place on January 13–14. On the first matchday, Neftchi defeated Lankaran 86–54, while Guba secured a 105–98 away victory over Nakhchivan. On the second matchday, Sheki, playing in front of their home fans, beat Serhedchi 92–75. Meanwhile, Sumgait claimed a sensational away win, defeating NTD 116–94.
It should be noted that the quarterfinal matches — Sabah vs Guba, Absheron Lions vs Sheki, Ganja vs Neftchi and Ordu vs Sumgait — will be held at the Baku Sports Palace from February 18 to 22.
