On March 23, the last group games of the Azerbaijan Basketball Cup took place at Sarhadchi Sports Center. After the following results, the "Ganja" and "NTD" teams took the first place in the group, and the "AAAF Khirdalan" and Neftchi" teams qualified for the semi-finals. The Azerbaijan national team has kicked off its EuroBasket 2029 pre-qualifying campaign
Our men’s national basketball team has played two games in the pre-qualifying stage of the EuroBasket 2029, which will be held in 2029. Our first match in Group A took place away against North Macedonia — considered the strongest team in the group. The home side won the game with a score of 87–49. Our second group match was against Luxembourg. Although our team came close to a comeback in the final period, the game ended 95–90 in favor of the opponent.
It should be noted that the next group matches for the Azerbaijan national team will take place on February 27, 2026, away against Ireland, and on March 2, at home, against North Macedonia.
