"Neftchi" is the champion of the women's league
On May 29, the final and 3rd place matches of the Azerbaijan Women's League (AQL) took place in the gym of the Azerbaijan Technical University. First of all, the match between the "Garadag" and "Khirdalan" clubs for the 3rd place was started. The match ended with a difficult victory of "Khirdalan" club with a score of 51-49. "Neftchi" and "Azstars" clubs met in the final match. "Neftchi", which took advantage from the beginning of the game, was happy with a comfortable victory with a score of 93-29 in the end. The most valuable female basketball player (MVP) of the final game was chosen by Angelina Ismayilova from "Neftchi" club. With this, "Neftchi" club went down in history as the first champion of the championship held in the first play-off system. In the end, the winners were awarded with cups and medals by the federation officials

Matches of the 13th round of the Azerbaijan Basketball League (ABL) were played on January 16–18. The following results were recorded in the games held in Groups “A” and “B”.

The Round of 16 stage of the Azerbaijan Basketball Cup (2026) took place on January 13–14. On the first matchday, Neftchi defeated Lankaran 86–54, while Guba secured a 105–98 away victory over Nakhchivan. On the second matchday, Sheki, playing in front of their home fans, beat Serhedchi 92–75. Meanwhile, Sumgait claimed a sensational away win, defeating NTD 116–94.
It should be noted that the quarterfinal matches — Sabah vs Guba, Absheron Lions vs Sheki, Ganja vs Neftchi and Ordu vs Sumgait — will be held at the Baku Sports Palace from February 18 to 22.
