The event of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF) regarding the report of the last season and the opening of the new season took place










On October 10, an event was held at the "Four Seasons" hotel regarding the start of the 2024-2025 season of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF) and the report of the last basketball season. Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Deputy Minister Mariana Vasileva, President of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF) Emin Amrullayev, members of the board, employees of the federation, club leaders, representatives, coaches, basketball players and media representatives took part in the event. FIBA referee Urfan Bayramli opened the event with his introductory speech. He talked about the work done by the federation in the last season, the successes achieved in the international arena and the innovations that will take place in the new season. Speaking at the event, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov specially noted the development dynamics of basketball in Azerbaijan in recent years. President of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation Emin Amrullayev also spoke about the principles and goals of successful activities. At the end, a briefing was organized for journalists. It should be noted that the new basketball season in our country will start on October 18

On July 13, our U-18 women’s national team played their final match in the European Championship division B. Competing for 11th–12th place, our team was defeated by Luxembourg with a score of 54:67, finishing the tournament in 12th place out of 21 participating countries. Considering all results, securing a spot among the top 12 teams in division B is a notable achievement for women’s basketball in our country. We congratulate our girls for their determined performance in their first-ever appearance in the European Championship division B and wish them continued success in upcoming competitions.
